Gratings

Composite gratings are generally produced using the pultrusion process. Features desired by the end user include long-term durability against corrosion, performance, load bearing capability and choice among color or design options.

Among corrosion-resistant applications that capitalize on the properties of composite materials are grating in chemical plants and other corrosive environments. For example marine applications are expanding in communities built in coastal areas. The premium properties needed are decking, walkways and handrail products or even deck houses that will stand up to sea water. They can be manufactured with Owens Corning’s patented boron-free Advantex® glass fiber, which combines the electrical and mechanical properties of traditional E-glass with the corrosion resistance and durability of E-CR glass.
